The Italian school
The high school IIS Francesco Maurolico of Messina has got Erasmus accreditation for both schools united from an administrative point of view: classical school Liceo Maurolico and scientific school Liceo Galilei. The school is about to carry out projects with three main objectives: introducing innovative teaching methods for STEAM and arousing students' curiosity for these subjects in order to achieve more job opportunities; empowering English knowledge for students and teachers; experiencing school management in other parts of Europe.

Learning programme
The Robotics workshop and the visit to the Institut Jaume Huguet aimed at programming and implementing by using Python and Arduino scripts referring to environmental tasks. Students learnt and worked both collaboratively and autonomously. They dealt with a problem-solving attitude. The visit to the exhibition in Tarragona "Homo Ludens: Videogames to understand the present" offered students a new perspective on the concept of gamer to better understand the positive and creative influence of videogames in their lives. A safe digital competence was improved. The Cosmocaixa Science Museum in Barcelona gave an understanding of science. Thanks to a walking tour of Barcelona, Valls and Tarragona and to a Catalan cooking workshop, students enjoyed not only the artistic value of the surroundings, but they were also ware of the cultural and traditional aspects of the place.
Activities in the lab and more
Robotics and Science
Ten students, attending two courses (Applied Science and Linguistic) of the high school Galileo Galilei of Spadafora, were from 15 to 17 years old. They were very interested in interacting with students from different countries and cultures. They were keen on informatics and science. From 21 to 27 April 2024 they took part in the group mobility at the Institut Narcis Oller of Valls where they learnt to use Arduino and sensors in order to plan a device to save energy at home. The project involves Robotics and Science, for this reason the students worked together with the hosting Spanish ones in interesting labs. Then, they visited an exhibition of videogames and the Science Museum of Barcelona, where they enjoyed a good time together. This is the first Erasmus experience for the Italian high school and for students as well. There are lots of positive aspects not only for the learning programme, but also for the emotions they felt.
